This vintage bread and butter plate features a vibrant design that combines intricate patterns and bold colors.
The central medallion includes a detailed floral arrangement with a mix of fruit-like motifs, including grapes and berries, against a soft cream background framed by a decorative blue border. Surrounding the central design, the plate is adorned with an ornate pattern of acanthus leaves and mythical creatures, that look like dragons and griffins, set against a bright turquoise blue background.
The outer rim has additional decorative bands, including a filigree design and thin black and white borders. The overall style appears classical, with a hint of Rococo or Baroque influence, and is fine porcelain bone china.
This bread and butter plate was made by Wedgwood in England and the pattern name is Florentine. This design was introduced in 1931 (pattern W2714) and Wedgwood still makes this pattern today as it is a popular collectors item. The backstamp puts the date of production between 1950-1962. This is a classic and timeless vintage treasure.
