A glass vase with painted scene depicting the fleet of ships from Christopher Columbus's first expedition of 1492, the "Discovery of America."

The name of the Santa Maria along with the date 1942 appear on the sail of the main ship.  The two smaller ships, La Nina and La Pinta, have identifying markings.

This vase is unsigned.  The scenes appear to be inspired by the work of renewed Nuremberg enameller Johann Schaper.

Condition:
Several significant rim chips.  Otherwise in good vintage condition.
